Roadmap

What we are building next.

AR Queer Life grows in public. This page keeps the big direction visible: usefulness, reliability, and sustainability.

Make it more useful

Help people find the right event, provider, group, resource, or Arkansas data point faster.

  • Better event tags and filters for food, Pride, nightlife, sober, family-friendly, trans-focused, and recurring events.
  • Richer healthcare and therapist listings with specialties, telehealth, verified links, and clearer search.
  • Community pages with current group links, social previews, photos, farmers markets, and meetups.
  • A more readable Arkansas data hub with working sources, mobile-friendly maps, and plain-language context.

Make it more reliable

Show what has been verified, refresh the moving parts, and flag anything that needs another look.

  • Automatic checks for broken external links.
  • Scheduled refreshes for news, events, healthcare providers, legislation, and data sources.
  • Admin alerts when feeds, imports, or source calendars stop updating.
  • Clear verified and needs-recheck labels on public listings.

Make it sustainable

Give the project a maintenance rhythm, a contribution path, and a way to support long-term care.

  • Private staff review checklist for regular maintenance.
  • GitHub issue templates for larger fixes and new data/source requests.
  • Contributor guidelines for safe, source-backed help.
  • Future support/donation page and a volunteer submission flow.

Timeline

Now, next, later.

  • News and link-health checks

Next

Make community information easier to update and easier to verify.

  • More local food, meetup, and group pages

Later

Build the support structure that lets the project last.

  • Donation/support page
  • Partner and volunteer roles
  • Public changelog
  • More automation around source drift

Project rhythm

Maintenance should be boring, visible, and repeatable.

Refresh

Pull new events, headlines, provider data, and state datasets on a schedule.

Verify

Check links and source health before stale information sits on public pages.

Review

Use the admin checklist to catch submissions, feed issues, and sources that need attention.

Document

Keep bigger work in GitHub issues and small contribution notes so future helpers can follow along.

GitHub issues

Bigger improvements get tracked, not remembered.

Big feature

Use for new pages, major workflows, or changes that touch more than one part of the site.

Data/source request

Use when adding a verified source, public dataset, organization, provider, or recurring feed.

Broken link

Use when a public link fails, redirects oddly, or needs a safer replacement source.
